Dear Friends:
I am proud to serve as the President of the Borough of Manhattan and to represent the diversity that makes this borough so great. My public school education is what I believe gave me the experience and values needed to fight for this city. Attending public school in Washington Heights and graduating from John Jay College of Criminal Justice allowed me to interact with people from all different backgrounds and interests.
Beyond the classroom, New York City is an educational tool unto itself. Our diversity and rich history provide a backdrop for learning that can not be found anywhere else in the world. We are a city that supports and values an open exchange of ideas and from those ideas often come bold new solutions to the challenges we face.
As Borough President, I’ll be working to make sure that CUNY and the rest of our city’s public schools and universities have the resources they need to succeed and to continue providing young people with tremendous tools to learn and grow. I’ll also be working to ensure that we continue to move forward as a city together by helping New Yorkers in need.
My hope is that CUNY students will continue to embrace and explore our City for all its worth.
Very truly yours,
