ASAP Courses of Study
Business/Accounting -A.A.S.
- The Business and Accounting Programs are designed to lead to immediate employment upon graduation. But many graduates choose to transfer to a senior college to complete their Bachelor's Degree. Small classes and caring faculty help students build a strong foundation and prepare them for upper level academics. Students choosing to enter the job market after earning their Associate Degree can find positions with local companies in many different areas of business including fashion, retail, accounting and financial fields. Many students are recruited directly by employers who visit the campus during job fairs. The Department of Business offers AAS degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Retail Merchandising (either Marketing or Fashion), and Office Administration and Technology. In addition, Business Administration majors may earn a Certificate in Entrepreneurship without taking any additional courses. Business majors typically earn half of their credits in the Business department; the other half of their credits are in Liberal Arts.
Liberal Arts - A.A.
- The Liberal Arts Program provides students with a solid foundation in the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and language and literature, preparing them for transfer to a senior or professional college. Transfer articulation agreements between Kingsborough and many public and private senior colleges allow students to transfer almost all their credits completed at Kingsborough towards their Bachelor’s degree.
Mental Health and Human Services - A.S.
- The Mental Health and Human Services Program is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in human service fields such as rehabilitation, social work, psychology, special education, counseling and mental health. The emphasis is on learning ways of helping people lead satisfying productive lives, and/or preventing the onset of serious emotional of psychological problems. Our faculty is drawn from the fields of psychology, counseling and social work. Upon completion of the program our students have been accepted to human service, social work and psychology programs at a wide range of four-year colleges/universities, including New York City College of Technology, Adelphi University, Lehman College, York College, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York University, Brooklyn College and many others.
Tourism and Hospitality - A.A.S.
-
An exceptional and experienced teaching faculty in the Tourism and Hospitality Department prepares students for careers in a diverse and exciting industry. Many graduates now hold professional positions with airlines, hotels, travel agencies, cruise lines, meeting planners, tour operators, restaurants, and airports. The Department’s Culinary Management concentration prepares students for careers in professional food service through a wide array of courses utilizing a “hands-on” approach to learning in a new culinary management laboratory. The Department also offers Virtual Enterprise, a simulated business environment in which students gain experience in business operations through practical and task-oriented instruction which fosters the business, technology and interpersonal skills necessary to transition from school to work. In addition to the degree program, students have the opportunity to qualify for several industry-recognized certifications..
