Flagship Initiatives
Consistent with the Chancellor’s vision of a Flagship Environment across the University, we are in the midst of major initiatives in photonics, in the biosciences (more specifically, cell signaling, macromolecular assemblies, and neuroscience), and in areas related to the urban environment. Flagship programs that build on strengths across the colleges will continue to emerge from ongoing discussions with the faculty.
PHOTONICSPhotonics is the use of light (visible, infrared or ultraviolet radiation) to obtain, convey or process information. » BIOSCIENCESFocus on molecular-level research on the structure, dynamics, and assembly mechanisms of large biological entities and biomaterials, assemblies that are the basic machineries that drive life. » URBAN ENVIRONMENTLiving in such a densely populated environment creates unique challenges - how can New Yorkers maintain a high quality of life while at the same time preserving the integrity of the environment? » |
