There is more to the cost of education than just tuition. Whether you are planning to attend CUNY as a part-time or full-time student, you can approximate your own expenses for the academic year (nine months) by considering the following items:

Students Living at Home or with Relatives

Books and Supplies: The average cost for a full-time student is $1,016 per year.

Transportation: $850 per year.

Lunch: $1,020

Personal Expenses: Approximately $1,686 per academic year.

Room and Board: Estimate $1,500 for the academic year.

Students Living Away from Home

Books and Supplies : The average cost for a full-time is $1,016 per year.

Transportation : $850 per year.

Lunch: $1,020

Food at home : $1,756

Personal Expenses : Approximately $3,676 per academic year.

Housing : Approximately $7,425 per academic year.

Housing: Residence hall space is not available within CUNY except for a limited number at Hunter College. Students interested in obtaining information about off-campus housing/apartments may contact the Office of the Dean of Students at the college they will be attending.

Technology Fee: Paid by each student to help improve computer services in the colleges. Full-time students pay $75.00 per semester and part-time students pay $37.50.

Activity Fees: Funds paid by each student to support student clubs, student government, various campus services, and a variety of student activities. These range from $40 to $101.25 per semester for a full-time student. A part-time student pays less.

Fees: For the 2007-2008 academic year, full-time graduate fees range from $25.70 to $158 depending on the school you attend. Fees for part-time study range from $25.70 to $124.20. A technology fee of $75 per semester for full-time students and $37.50 for part-time students is charged.

Level I First 45 credits of graduate work, fully earned and evaluated, which may include approved advanced standing transfer credits, plus currently active incomplete grades, and successful completion of the first examination.

Level II From semester following completion of 45 credits, fully earned and evaluated, to completion of all required course work and advancement to candidacy.

Level III From semester following completion of all required course work and advancement to candidacy, to attainment of degree. Certification of having completed one's coursework must be sent to the registrar before movement to e the third level can be implemented.
