CUNY undergraduate programs lead to two types of degrees: the associate or the bachelor's. Generally, an associate degree requires approximately 60 college credits and a bachelor's requires 120. Each degree requires a major program, and CUNY offers more than 1,250 programs from which to choose. Our undergraduate degree programs are divided into eight main areas of study.

ENGINEERING, ARCHITECTURE, AND RELATED TECHNOLOGIES
We offer programs in all major fields of engineering, including bioengineering, chemical, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as in architecture and a variety of technology-related fields.
FINE, PERFORMING, AND TECHNOLOGY-RELATED ARTS
The arts are a vital component of the CUNY curriculum. We provide undergraduate programs in art, music, theater, dance, cinema studies, media studies, and electronic design and multimedia.
HEALTH PROFESSIONS
Our exceptional programs in the health sciences include preparation for careers ranging from doctor of medicine, dental technician or nurse, to forensic scientist, physical therapist, or veterinary assistant.
LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES
A degree in the liberal arts and sciences is excellent preparation for a broad range of professions, including communications, law, medicine, and public service, and provides a strong foundation for further study.
PUBLIC AFFAIRS, COMMUNITY, AND SOCIAL SERVICES
Some of our degree programs prepare you for graduate-level work and an administrative career, while others train you for hands-on "helping" professions such as social work and human services.
TEACHER EDUCATION
Our teacher preparation ranges from programs in early childhood, elementary, and secondary education, to bilingual education, special education, speech and hearing, and recreation, as well as the full spectrum of academic subjects.
The Teacher Academy offers a unique opportunity to high-achieving students wishing to teach mathematics or science at the junior high or high school level.
