CUNY's senior college of technology, City Tech has been a model of excellence in urban education since its founding in 1946 as New York City Technical College. Offering a host of new and innovative programs, City Tech is still a pioneering force in higher education.

Known informally as City Tech, the New York City College of Technology enrolls approximately 11,000 students in 40 baccalaureate and associate degree programs. It also enrolls about 15,000 students annually through its Division of Continuing Education and External Partnerships. City Tech programs are designed to anticipate emerging employment trends in the city, state, and nation.

City Tech is located at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, adjacent to the Metro Tech Center academic and commercial complex. The campus is a two-minute walk from all bus and subway lines serving the Downtown Brooklyn area.

  • By combining specialized technical education and liberal arts study, City Tech connects students to extraordinary career opportunities in a wide range of dynamic professional fields.
  • City Tech offers a distinctive combination: specialized technical instruction and a strong general education in the liberal arts and sciences. This curriculum helps students prepare for challenging, high-level professional opportunities, not merely for technical jobs.
  • City Tech offers innovative degree programs in business, computer science, engineering, public service, and other fields. Many City Tech programs are unique within CUNY and some are offered nowhere else in the New York City area.
  • City Tech's caring, committed faculty work side by side with students, fostering a strong sense of community.
  • Many faculty members have a professional background in business and industry, providing students with the benefit of extensive real-world experience. Their close ties to industry often lead to student internships and permanent employment.
  • City Tech is a diverse, multicultural learning environment. Students and faculty members come from more than 100 countries and speak more than 60 languages.
  • The College is an active partner in the renaissance of Downtown Brooklyn and the surrounding MetroTech business district. Students have many opportunities to get involved in the life of the community.
  • Students find it easy to reinforce academic skills and gain career experience by taking advantage of various business and community assistance programs and research opportunities at prestigious national science laboratories.
  • City Tech is a leader in the development of model programs, such as those provided by the Center for Intergenerational Reading, which has made family literacy a priority throughout the city. The College has also designed programs that remodel how math and science are taught in New York City public schools and at CUNY.
  • A City Tech degree is a passport to success! The College has produced more than 65,000 graduates, most of whom have remained in the greater New York area and contribute to its economic and professional vitality. Many alumni are prominent in their fields, including more than 1,000 graduates who are or have been corporate CEOs or business owners.
  • Innovative programs in the Division of Continuing Education and External Partnerships help meet students' specific training and retraining needs and provide businesses with employees who have strong technical and management skills.
