New Technology: Two Conferences

Two major conferences addressing the introduction of new technology on City University campuses are taking place early this fall. On October 4-5 at the Graduate Center, U.S. Department of Education members, state educational leaders, deans of teacher education, and legislators are convening for “Making Technology Work in Our Schools.” The focus will be on steps that should follow after computers and Internet connections are in place. Among experts participating in the conference, sponsored by the Executive Vice Chancellor Louise Mirrer, is Chris Dede, chair of Learning and Teaching at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

John Jay College will host a day-long technology conference co-sponsored by the CUNY Information Technology Steering committee and Converge Magazine, a widely-read journal of emerging technologies. The November 15 event will feature nationally prominent industry experts, breakout sessions on best practices, and vendor demonstrations. Admission is free but registration is required. For more information contact conference chair Professor George Otte in the CUNY Office of Academic Affairs.
