CUNY/Computing and Information Services serves as the central computing facility for the City University of New York. Computing resources are also available (for a fee) to universities and other nonprofit organizations. CUNY/CIS is connected to many university computer centers via BITNET and is a member of NYSERNet. The CUNY/CIS Internet node is CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU; its BITNET nodes are CUNYVM and CUNYJES3.
The computers at CUNY/CIS include an IBM 3081KX and an IBM 3090-400E with two Vector Facilities. The 3081KX operates under MVS/XA and JES3; the 3090 is partitioned; one side operates under VM/ESA and the other under MVS/XA. Dialup telephone numbers are: (212) 974-8680 for 9600 bps and (212) 974-8600 for IBM 7171 300/1200/2400 bps. The CUNY/CIS Support Center (CTRCU) may be contacted at (212) 903-3681.
FYeI provides ongoing information of interest to the user community. It is available on CUNYVM; type Help NSL for further information. Copies of current and back issues are available at the CUNY/CIS (back issues were entitled Communications); they will also be sent upon request to CUNY administrative, instructional, and research personnel. Anyone wishing to be added to the mailing list, including students who wish to receive copies of the newsletter through the campus mail, should write to: CUNY/CIS Documentation, 555 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019.
Contributions on topics of general interest or of significance to special interest groups within the user community are welcome. Suggestions or complaints should be brought to the editor's attention using the SUGGEST command on WYLBUR or VM, or mailed to: The Editor, FYeI.
