Update: CUNY Mainframe Migration Efforts

In the past two years, the Office of Computer Information Services has dramatically expanded support of college based administrative systems by providing a migration path for colleges electing to run their college based student systems on the processor resident at 57th Street. This opportunity has resulted in significant cost savings for many of our colleges. Since last fall, Hunter, Brooklyn and Lehman Colleges have migrated their student systems from local campus mainframes. The next tier of colleges scheduled for migration this year includes Baruch, College of Staten Island, John Jay and York. These seven colleges will bring the total of centrally running student systems to nine. In future issues of FYeI, we plan to provide details on these mainframe consolidation efforts including the effect on campus services and the impact on future central planning activities.
