CUNYNet Update

All campuses have been added to CUNYNet's T1 (1.544 Mbps) network. We now have the flexibility to route data traffic within the NYNEX COs (central offices). We will be working on routing confirmations within the NYNEX CO to provide alternate routing between campuses and CUNY/CIS.

We have added New York Technical College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Queensborough Community College to the TCP/IP network on the Internet. Bronx Community College and La Guardia Community College are scheduled to be added in April 1995.

Another enhancement to CUNYNet in April will be the upgrade to T3 speed (45 Mbps) of the CUNY link to the Internet.

CUNY/CIS Department of Communications is currently talking with vendors about dial-up access to the Internet. The goal is to provide dial-up access, both attractive in cost and easy to use, to faculty, staff and students. We will report the result of our negotiations in the next issue of FYeI.
