The Fall 2011 semester is just around the corner.
To prepare for the transition to college, students should start the financial aid process as soon as possible. The first step is to apply for a PIN for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://www.fafsa.gov. The PIN allows students and their parents to electronically sign and make corrections to their FAFSA. New York State residents should also complete the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application.
Students with a Student Aid Report (SAR) that indicates an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $3,000 or less will have their CUNY Commitment Tuition Deposit waived. So, please encourage your students to complete the FAFSA during the month of February.
Please note: New federal guidelines make it mandatory that students include the code for each college to which they have applied. Students must list a code for each CUNY college listed on their Admission Application.
Our Financial Aid Website provides information on college costs, types of aid available and helps simplify the financial aid process. For specific questions regarding financial aid at CUNY, students may contact the Office of Financial Aid at an individual CUNY college.
