Statement from the Chancellor on the London Terrorist Attacks

July 8, 2005 | News from the Chancellor

Dear Members of The City University of New York community,

The City University of New York joins the worldwide community in
mourning the victims of the barbaric July 7 terrorist attacks in
London. We extend our deepest sympathies to the people of London,
remembering gratefully their support of New York after September
11, 2001.

We have worked closely with all of the CUNY colleges and the
corresponding academic officials in London to ensure the safety of
University students and faculty currently participating in academic
study-abroad programs in London. We have received no reports of
injury to those studying through these CUNY programs. Their
continued safety is paramount, and we will continue to monitor the
progress of events. Family members and friends needing additional
information should contact the office of the president at the
respective CUNY college.

I know that you join me in expressing our ongoing concern for the
injured and our heartfelt condolences to all the people of London.
