June 27, 2006 | News from the Chancellor
I am pleased to report to you that the University Board of Trustees last night approved the 2002-2007 PSC/CUNY collective bargaining agreement. On June 2, the tentative agreement was ratified by the membership of the Professional Staff Congress/CUNY (PSC). On June 22, the State Legislature approved the requisite pay bill. We anticipate that the governor will sign the pay bill, which was recommended by his office. When that happens, all the necessary approvals will have been secured.
The University is working with the City and State payroll offices on the implementation of the new salaries. While this process takes time, we have urged them to implement the salaries and pay the retroactivity as soon as possible. In addition, the University is drafting guidance to the Presidents of the colleges on the other new provisions of the contract.
With the agreement in place, I look forward with great anticipation to another successful academic year. I wish all of you a productive and enjoyable summer.
