Chancellor Matthew Goldstein’s Statement on the Earthquake in Chile and CUNY’s Relief Efforts

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic impact of the devastating earthquake in Chile. Our heartfelt prayers are very much with all Chileans everywhere, including CUNY students, faculty, staff, and alumni who hail from their beloved homeland. I have asked Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Peter Jordan to coordinate requests for assistance to Chile at CUNY colleges through the appropriate relief agencies, including those involved in our current “Help for Haiti” program. Further details will be posted at Like all members of the world community, we remain deeply hopeful that the aftershocks will be minimal so that further damage can be averted.”
