New Health Plan Rates in July

Every July, the New York City Health Benefits Program implements plan changes and new rates for health insurance carriers. As a result, the payroll deductions for the basic plans and optional riders have been updated effective the first full pay period of July 2009. The new rates were reflected in your July 16th paycheck.

Transit Benefit Update

July 2009

Transit Benefit Plan deduction rates have changed due to the transit fare increases that took place on June 28, 2009. The new rates were automatically adjusted by the State Payroll Systems with the July 16th paycheck and no action was required on your part.

New Interest Rate for TRS TDA Fixed Return Fund

July 2009

On June 30, 2009, the law setting the interest rate expired. The State Legislature has not taken action to extend the 8.25% interest rate in effect on June 30; so, by law, the interest rate has been set back to 7%, beginning July 1.

Electronic Degree Verifications Launched

July 2009

Central Office Human Resources has begun using DegreeVerify, an online service provider to verify academic credentials for all staff members. We conduct verifications online through a secure web site.

New Digital Fingerprinting for Applicants

The Office of Human Resources Operations and Systems is pleased to introduce digital fingerprinting to the University community. Using the services of L-1 Identity Solutions, applicants can now be fingerprinted and the results sent to the Civil Service Administration unit and the campus Human Resources Departments quickly.

Annual Performance Evaluations for Classified Managerial Staff

Managers of Classified Managerial staff will be notified shortly to conduct performance appraisal conferences and complete annual evaluations. A new form entitled Classified Managerial Performance Accountability Assessment and Conference Form was recently developed and will be piloted this year.

The University’s Policy on Acceptable Use of Computer Resources is intended to support the free exchange of ideas among members of the CUNY community and between the CUNY community and other communities, while recognizing the responsibilities and limitations associated with such exchange. This policy applies to all users of CUNY computer resources, whether affiliated with CUNY or not, and whether accessing those resources on a CUNY campus or remotely.
