The American Cancer Society coined October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I invite you to make a donation and join the Central Office Team for the 17th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park on Sunday, October 17.

The Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Program includes Health Care (HCFSA), Dependent Care Assistance (DeCAP), MSC Premium Conversion, and MSC Health Benefits Buy-Out Waiver. For the 2011 Plan Year effective January 1, 2011, the open enrollment period is September 27 – November 19, 2010.

Information regarding the open enrollment/transfer period dates to make changes to your Health Benefit Plans and PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund Benefits to be effective in January 2011 will be announced soon.

The Professional Development and Learning Management Office (PDLM) offers various training opportunities for staff members. Since technology is the theme for October, several classes, including Personal Computer Essentials, Excel, Word, and Power Point will be offered.

October is declared Domestic Violence Awareness Month by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Wednesday October 20 is designated as “Go Purple” day in New York State to bring attention to the issue. The City University of New York disapproves of violence against women, men, or children in any form, whether as an act of workplace violence or in any employee’s personal life.
