The University’s 2011-2012 Employee Holiday Calendar is now available for the period of September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012. Since the calendar schedules are not identical, be sure to check the correct chart column for your title group.

Health Plan Benefit & Rate Changes

August 2011

The New York City Health Benefits Program implemented several co-payment increases for HIP Prime POS effective July 1, 2011, and will discontinue the Aetna QPOS plan effective January 1, 2012.

New July 2011 Health Plan Rates

August 2011

The New York City Health Benefits Program implemented new health plan rates in July 2011. The rate changes were effective the first full pay period of July and reflected in your July 14 paycheck.

UAPC Employee Appreciation & Wellness Event

Central Office Human Resources held an employee appreciation and wellness event at the University Application Processing Center (UAPC) on Friday June 24, focusing on heart health and general wellness. Several vendors provided information on holistic health, nutrition, and stress reduction.

Updated Campus & Workplace Violence Prevention Policy

August 2011

On February 28, 2011, the University’s Board of Trustees adopted an updated Campus and Workplace Violence Prevention Policy. The updated policy reinforces the University’s commitment to preventing workplace violence and ensuring a safe and secure work environment.

Online Campus & Workplace Violence Prevention Training Program

August 2011

In compliance with New York State law and The City University of New York Campus and Workplace Violence Prevention Policy, CUNY developed an online training program entitled “Preventing Workplace Violence.” All CUNY employees were sent an email instructing them to complete the program by July 28, 2011.

Policy Against Sexual Harassment

August 2011

It is CUNY policy to promote a cooperative work and academic environment in which there exists mutual respect for all University students, faculty, and staff. Harassment of employees or students based upon sex is inconsistent with this objective and contrary to the University’s non-discrimination policy. Sexual harassment is illegal under Federal, State, and City laws, and will not be tolerated within the University.

Sexual Harassment Awareness & Intake Committee Members

August 2011

In accord with the University’s Policy Against Sexual Harassment, Central Office created the Sexual Harassment Awareness and Intake Awareness Committee (SHAIC). The SHAIC committee is responsible for educating employees about sexual harassment and its potential consequences to the University community, and for overseeing sexual harassment training.
