The 2011 Open Enrollment/Transfer Period for the Health Insurance Plans, Young Adult Coverage to Age 26, Flexible Spending Accounts Program and PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund Dental Benefits for the 2012 calendar/plan year is currently underway. The time period of dates when changes can be made for specific programs, plans and coverages are listed below. Please pay attention to the dates and submit your forms on time to ensure that the changes are processed.

CUNY employees have the option to enroll in the annual Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Program for the plan year 2012. The open enrollment period began on September 26, 2011 and ends on November 18, 2011.

The 2011 Transfer Period for the Health Insurance Plans is November 1, 2011 through November 30, 2011.

In accordance with the Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), CUNY now offers all employees the opportunity to include their young adult dependents (up to age 26) under their health benefits coverage.

The PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund Dental Plan change period will be from November 1 through November 30, 2011. During this time, PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund participants and benefits-eligible employees can change their dental coverage provider.

Now is the time to submit your annual deduction changes for the Tax-Deferred Annuity Plans. The IRS tax deferred annuity limits for the 2012 calendar year are below. Pay close attention to the limits for your age group.

Thank you to all the Central Office staff members who donated to and/or participated in the American Cancer Society’s annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Central Park on Sunday, October 16, 2011. Over $3,100 in donations was raised. The Central Office Team had about 30 walkers who came out on an unseasonably warm and sunny fall day to honor breast cancer survivors, remember people we have lost, and raise funds and awareness to help end the disease.

The University Office of Professional Development and Learning Management (PDLM) offers various training opportunities for CUNY staff members. The courses are designed to enhance your knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to be productive in your professional and personal lives.

The City University of New York has a long-standing commitment to promoting a safe and secure academic and work environment that promotes the achievement of its mission of teaching, research, scholarship and service. On September 26, 2011, the University’s Board of Trustees adopted an updated Campus and Workplace Violence Prevention Policy.

In compliance with New York State law and The City University of New York Campus and Workplace Violence Prevention Policy, CUNY developed an online training program entitled “Preventing Workplace Violence.” All CUNY employees are required to complete the program annually.
