Dr. Isaac Weisfuse, Deputy Commissioner, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Discusses New York City's Pandemic Flu Preparedness at Recent NYCER

Dr. Isaac B. Weisfuse, Deputy Commissioner of Disease Control at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH), spoke at the July meeting of the New York Campus Environmental Resource (NYCER) on July 25, 2006 at Vaughn College on “New York City’s Pandemic Flu Preparedness Plan.” Dr. Weisfuse reviewed NYCDOHMH’s planning strategy and assumptions and encouraged discussion on New York City’s command and control strategy, surveillance and epidemiology, potential legal issues arising from a pandemic, and preventive health tips and useful resources such as the New York City’s Health Alert Network. The next NYCER meeting will be held on September 26, 2006 at the Hughes Hubbard and Reed law firm and will include a presentation and discussion with Alan J. Steinberg, Regional Administrator in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region II. NYCER meetings are held bi-monthly at various locations in New York City.
