March 18, 2008 | Waste and Recycling
The inaugural Waste and Recycling Committee meeting took place at 535 East 80th Street on March 12, 2008. As part of the CUNY Sustainability Project, the committee will help foster a culture of sustainability within the CUNY community. The committee will provide support and guidance to all CUNY campuses as they develop and implement procedures that will maximize their recycling and waste products in a productive manner. The committee will also identify the larger challenges and barriers to effective recycling and recommend strategies to overcome them. The first step in this process is evaluating current recycling procedures and establishing baselines at each campus. Michael Spath of the Office of Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management is chairing the Waste and Recycling Committee. Meetings will be held monthly.
