Environmental, Health, Safety and Risk Management

NEW YORK CAMPUS ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCE (NYCER)

The New York Campus Environmental Resource (NYCER) was established in 2003 as a forum for the exchange of environmental health and safety information among academic institutions in the New York area. NYCER’s discussion topics have included recent campus environmental health and safety developments, changes to the regulatory environment, environmental management strategies, laboratory safety and compliance, universal waste management, environmental management systems, and the EPA College and University Audit Initiative. Guest speakers at NYCER meetings have included numerous technical experts and policy makers, such as the New York City Fire Department Lab Safety Chief and the Regional Administrator of the EPA.

NYCER holds luncheon meetings every other month at different member institution locations throughout the metropolitan area. The meetings generally last from noon until 2pm and consist of an hour of technical discussion and networking and an hour of training on varying topics of mutual interest. Lunch is typically sponsored by the host institution.

There are currently 60 institutions on the NYCER roster, and we have had excellent participation at the meetings.
