The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York today appointed Dr. Russell K. Hotzler as Interim President of York College, effective June 30th 2002.
“Dr. Hotzler will bring to York College his exemplary skills as an experienced educator and administrator, including over two decades of service to CUNY colleges in Queens County,” said Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, who recommended the appointment. Dr. Hotzler is completing two years of service at Queens College as Interim President.
David Taylor, the Associate Dean of Administration and Finance at Bronx Community College, will join Dr. Hotzler at York College as Acting Vice President for Administration. Mr. Taylor previously served as Deputy Budget Director for Central Purchasing at the New York City Board of Education and spent five years at CUNY’s Office of Budget and Finance.
Chancellor Goldstein thanked President Charles C. Kidd, Sr. for his six years of service to York College and issued the following statement:
“York College is an integral part of the University community. We very much appreciate the profound importance of the College to the educational and economic vitality of the Greater Jamaica community, Queens County and our City and State. There will be new opportunities to build on the extraordinary potential of York College in the months and years ahead.”
The Board of Trustees will establish a presidential search committee consistent with University guidelines, and conduct a national search for a permanent president.
