New School Record Set at Competition

Brooklyn, N.Y. March 9 — Kingsborough Community College’s (KCC) athletes attended the National Indoor Track & Field Championships at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Kingsborough was one of five Division III colleges attending. The remaining schools were Division I.
Led by head coach Dave Loobie, the following athletes represented Kingsborough Community College: Triva Alleyne, Khalil Calixte, Jamaal Devore, Robert Mortel, Faisal Muhammad, Lindel Pope, Jamie Wilson, Beraiah Yisrael, and
Robert Ziegler.
The college’s shining moment came when the Men 4x800Meter Relay Team comprised of Lindel Pope, Jamaal Devore, Robert Mortel, and Khalil Calixte took the track. The race included 12 schools, 10 of which were Division I schools; nevertheless, KCC was able to run a seasonal best, and in doing so, set a new school record of :59.80 and finished the race in fourth place.
The Men 4×400 Meter relay, comprised of Khalil Calixte, Jamaal Devore, Jamie Wilson, and Robert Ziegler placed thirteenth in the nation with a time of 3:20.66.
The Men Distance Medley made up of Khalil Calixte, Jamaal Devore, Lindel Pope, and Jamie Wilson placed tenth in the nation with a time 11:33.51
Lindel Pope made it to the finals in the 800 Meters and finished the race in 8th place. Khalil Calixte showed signs of great things to come as he ran a spectacular race in the Distance Medley and the 4×800 Meter relay. He also ran a personal best in the 600 Meter with a time of 1:23.80.
