BRONX, NY—The Lehman College Community Band will give its final concert of the season on Sunday, May 20, at 4 p.m. in the Lovinger Theatre. “A Spring Rendezvous” will feature music for concert band, including Robert Jager’s classic Esprit de Corps and Roman Carnival Overture by Hector Berlioz. This performance is free and open to the public.
Directed by Professor Alan Hollander, the program will include Graham Lloyd’s latest composition, entitled Pilgrims’ Swing, an arrangement based on a melody by Mendelssohn. The band will also perform highlights from the musical Gypsy and several other selections.
Special guest soloist Evan Ocharet, a senior at Edgemont High School in Westchester and winner of the Seventh Annual Jerome G. Sala Memorial Wind Competition, will perform Marcello’s Concerto in C Minor for Oboe.
A senior college of the City University of New York, Lehman is located at Goulden Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard in the northwest Bronx and is accessible by bus as well as the #4 and “D” subway lines. Free attended parking is also available.
