BRONX, NY—Members of Lehman College’s Community Band, Chamber Players and Woodwind Quintet will join to form a new group, the Lehman Chamber Wind Ensemble, for a special one-time-only performance on Saturday, June 30, at 4 p.m. in the Lovinger Theatre. This event is free and open to the public.
Directed by Professor Alan Hollander, the performance will feature 11 instruments, including two oboes, two bassoons, three French horns, two clarinets, a cello and string bass. The program will feature Dvorak’s celebrated masterwork Serenade in D minor, which is a compilation of Czech folk dances. Also to be performed are Mozart’s Serenade No. 11 in E-flat major and Rossini’s Overture to The Italian Girl in Algiers.
A senior college of the City University of New York, Lehman is located at Goulden Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard in the northwest Bronx and is accessible by bus as well as the #4 and “D” subway lines. Free attended parking is also available.
