Lehman’s ‘Lightning’ Jazz Brass Band to Give Free Concert Dec. 9

The Lehman “Lightning” Jazz Brass Band will give a free concert Dec. 9, featuring the music of Lester Bowie’s Brass Fantasy and the World Saxophone Quartet, as well as a selection of contemporary arrangements for small to mid-sized ensembles. The concert begins at 2 p.m. in the Hearth Room, located on the third floor of the Lehman College Music Building. All are welcome to attend this event.

Directing the band is Bob Stewart, a distinguished lecturer of music at Lehman. A professional tuba player for over 35 years, Professor Stewart has performed and recorded with artists like Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus, McCoy Tyner, and Wynton Marsalis. He has also recorded three of his own albums for JMT and Postcard Records.

A senior college of the City University of New York, Lehman is located at Goulden Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard in the northwest Bronx and is accessible by bus as well as the #4 and “D” subway lines. Free attended parking is also available.
