A symposium honoring Baruch legend Emanuel Saxe (1902-1987) will take place at Baruch College on Monday, April 28, 2008 in the 14th floor Conference Center of the Newman Vertical Campus. The symposium is the final event of the Critical Perspectives on Accounting Conference (April 24-28) and spotlights the life and work of Manny Saxe, who shaped the history of Baruch College as a teacher, mentor and administrator.
Saxe’s genius lay in creating an academic climate in which students and colleagues could flourish. His most famous student, Abraham Briloff, will highlight the day with an address entitled “The Private Equity Funds’ Aggressive Acquisitions Mania and the Willy Loman Trauma”. Eli Mason, another of Saxe’s students, has submitted a contribution which will be read into the record. All of Emanuel Saxe’s students and former colleagues, as well as their students who have benefitted from his influence, are invited to participate in a tribute will be part of a permanent record in the Virtual Briloff Library.
