The CUNY Aviation Institute (AI) at York College (www.york.cuny.edu) will inaugurate its 2009 – 2010 Executive Speaker Lecture Series with a panel of distinguished aviation experts Friday, October 23, 2009, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., in the Faculty Dining Room, Academic Core Building, 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Jamaica, NY. The topic will be “Balancing the Demands of an Aviation Career and Family.”
Panelists will include Robert Aceves, Director of AI, Patty Clark, senior advisor, Aviation Department, The Port Authority of NY & NJ and Icema Gibbs, director, Corporate Social Responsibility, JetBlue Airways. Executive Director, Council for Airport Opportunity Philippa Karteron, will be the moderator.
The CUNY Aviation Institute at York College was established in 2003 by a grant from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to promote high quality education and research for the aviation industry. In cooperation with local, national, and international partners, AI aims to develop and disseminate pedagogical material relevant to airlines, airports, service providers, civil aviation authorities, and related industries.
AI also promotes high quality research and the academic exchange of ideas in the field of aviation and assists in the training of professional educators and researchers in this area. As an academic forum on education and research in the field of aviation, AI acts as the center for a network of global partners comprising the private sector, educational institutions, international organizations, trade associations, governments and other bodies with interest in aviation management.
