City University Film Festival (CUFF) March 13 – 20

The Second Annual City University Film Festival announces this season’s CUFF Week festival dates.  CUFF 2010 will take place March 13 – 20 (Saturday-Saturday).  CUFF is the premier showcase for CUNY student film.  With extraordinary short films, filmmaker forums and engaging career workshops, CUFF brings together a community of filmmakers from all CUNY campuses.   CUFF 2010 is presented by THIRTEEN, HBO, and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting.

During CUFF Week, THIRTEEN’s Reel13 program will broadcast winning selections from CUFF 2009.  A Master Class and screening of “Fathers and Guns” at Lincoln Center will also be held.

For CUFF 2009, 14 films were selected including representatives from all senior CUNY campuses. These films were selected from over 75 submissions.  The Master Class featured Greg Rhem of HBO and CUNY Faculty Judges.  Career workshops held during the year were led by Academy Award-winner Carmen Vidal, Webby winner Christopher Ford, Greg Rhem and Richard Seigmeister, founder of Reel13.

As of February 15, CUFF 2010 has received over 50 films. Submissions will be accepted through February 26.

On Thursday, March 18,at 6:30pm, there will be a CUFF outing to the The Film Society at Lincoln Center for a screening of New French Shorts.  Please meet in the Walter Reade theater’s lobby at 6:20pm. RSVP to cityuniversityfilmfestival@gmail.com.

The main screening event will feature live jazz and representatives from HBO and the Mayor’s Office and will be held on March 20, 2010 at Macaulay Honors College: 35 West 67th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.  The festival is free and open to the public.  A trailer for the event can be viewed at here.
