June 4, 2010 | School of Professional Studies
Since being formed in 2003, the School of Professional Studies (SPS) has grown dramatically, offering groundbreaking programs, new modes of instruction, and new kinds of learning tailored for the diverse needs of working professionals. At Commencement exercises next week SPS will have 121 degree recipients from its Online Baccalaureate program and its first graduates from the Masters in Applied Theatre and Disability Studies programs.
In response to the needs of its graduates, SPS announced the launch of its Alumni Relations Office at its first Alumni Reception held June 3, 2010, at Pranna Restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Alumni were introduced to Leslie Kerr, who has joined SPS as the Director of a newly established Office of Alumni Relations. Leslie joins SPS with 15 years of experience in development and alumni relations in the nonprofit sector and academia. Under her direction, the Office of Alumni Relations will keep graduates informed of the school’s continuing development and resources available and help them stay in touch with classmates through a variety of events. SPS is also forming a 15-member Alumni Relations Council with the goal of ensuring the ongoing growth and success of the Alumni Association by strategizing and implementing policies and initiatives.
