Hostos C C Establishes New Partnership with South Bronx United Soccer Club

The Hostos Community College athletics program has announced a new partnership with the South Bronx United Soccer Club, a nonprofit youth development organization that offers after-school tutoring for at-risk students between the ages of ages 10 and18. In addition to academic services, the club conducts soccer clinics and sponsors little league soccer teams. The partnership between Hostos and South Bronx United will include coordination of joint events throughout the year.

At the inaugural event this summer, Hostos hosted South Bronx United’s end-of-season Awards Banquet in the college cafeteria. This event included the viewing of a video of the World Cup match between Team USA and Ghana.

Last week, Hostos again served as host to South Bronx United for a soccer officials’ clinic. At another recent clinic, Claudio Suarez of Mexico’s national team taught 60 children the basics of soccer at Macombs Dam Park.  Future events will include tutoring sessions and a clinic conducted by Hostos intercollegiate Soccer.
