The Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) Program at Medgar Evers College, CUNY will host fall 2011 Open Houses on Thursday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 28. The Open Houses will provide community residents with information about fall courses and certificate programs for professional and personal advancement.
As part of the School of Professional and Community Development, ACE offers certificate programs, classes and seminars to working professionals, those new to the workforce, those seeking to rejoin the workforce, and those simply looking for personal enrichment opportunities.
“Our programs represent opportunities for advancement both into the workforce and up the career ladder,” said ACE Director Jonathan Bissell, “and there’s no better time than now to position yourself for future success.”
Fall 2011 Programs include: Bookkeeping and Accounting, Non-Profit Management, Real Estate Salesperson (75-hour), Project Management, Small Business Entrepreneurship, Wedding and Event Planning, LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation, Medical Billing and Coding, CASAC, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), EMT Technician, Pharmacy Technician, GED and SAT Preparation, Spanish, Microsoft Computer Applications, Graphic and Web Design, Advanced Photoshop, Introduction to HTML 5, Smart Phone App Workshop, Notary Public, Paralegal, Legal Secretary, Legal Nurse Consultant, Writing Skills, Basic Reading and Math, Screen Printing, Piano, Martial Arts, and more!
New online programs offered this fall include Advanced Paralegal, Childhood Development Associate, Electronic Technician, Electro-Mechanical Technician, Programmable Logic Controllers Program, and Robotics Technician.
Open Houses will be held on Thursday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 28 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at 1534 Bedford Avenue, 2nd Floor, located on the corner of Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway next to the B-49 Bus Line and one block from the Franklin Avenue subway station (2,3,4,5,S). Accepted forms of payment at the Open House include credit and debit cards. Individuals purchasing classes at Open House receive 10% off tuition; however, these discounts are not to be combined with other offers and do not apply to courses under $100 or to third-party courses. Cash and money order payments will only be accepted at the Bursar’s Office. Personal checks are not accepted. Medgar Evers College was founded in 1970 through the efforts from educators and community leaders in central Brooklyn. The College is named after Medgar Wiley Evers, a Mississippi-born black civil rights activist who was assassinated on June 12, 1963. The College is divided into four schools: The School of Business; The School of Professional and Community Development; The School of Liberal Arts and Education; and The School of Science, Health, and Technology. Through these Schools, the College offers 29 associate and baccalaureate degree programs, as well as certificate programs in fields such as English, Nursing, and Accounting. Medgar Evers College also operates several co-curricular and external programs and associated centers such as the Male Development and Empowerment Center, the Center for Women’s Development, the Center for Black Literature, and The DuBois Bunche Center for Public Policy.
