Bronx Community College Students Win Speech Trophies in First Competition of the Fall 2011 Semester

Bronx Community College students Cory Vendryes and Yanilda Peralta were trophy winners at the Ed Leonard Memorial Speech Tournament held at Seton Hall University in New Jersey October 22, 2011. The two members of BCC’s Speech, Drama and Debate Team were winners in the Impromptu Sales event. Vendryes, a liberal arts major with a biology option, placed third. Peralta, who is majoring in computer science, placed sixth.

Under the direction of faculty advisors Ellen Mareneck and Dr. Sara Brady of the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences, the Speech, Drama and Debate Team travels to regional tournaments and performs at BCC events and celebrations. The speech tournament at Seton Hall University was the students’ first competition of the fall 2011 semester.

Other Bronx Community College team members competing were Sandra Cancinos in Persuasive Speaking and Daniel Bediako in Programmed Oral Interpretation.
