First BCC Students to Receive Honorable Mention at The Black Engineer of the Year Awards in Philadelphia

February 28, 2012 | Bronx Community College

Congratulations to Alex Luma, computer science major and Anthony Canelo, engineering science major, who both received honorable mention at the Black Engineer of The Year Awards in Philadelphia on February 17, 2012. Alex Luma was awarded the “Community in STEM” Award and Anthony Canelo was awarded the “Academics in STEM” Award.
It was a very inspiring trip for the two of them, as well as the 40 students who went on the educational journey to Philadelphia. Bronx Community College was the only Community College in attendance at the Annual BEYA Awards. While in Philadelphia, our students also went on campus tours of Delaware University and the University of Pennsylvania.
