Bronx Community College’s Irish Heritage and Culture Committee – will host a St. Patrick’s Day Luncheon & Celebration honoring – Mr. Derek Woods, Bronx-Net Journalist, Videographer and Producer . Mr. Woods was recognized by former Bronx Borough President Adolpho Carrion as a Bronx leading Irish American, who’s well known for his dedication to community news reporting in the Award winning “Bronx Magazine”. Mr. Woods also recently received an Emmy Award Nomination for “Memory Brings Us Back”, a documentary about Irish Immigration & Irish American experience in conjunction with the Aisling Irish Center.
We will also honor Author & Campus Minister – Fr. James Coy Sheehan, a New York Archdiocesan Priest who’s dedicated his ministry as a prison chaplain and more recently as Campus Minister to Bronx Community College & Hostos College of the City University of New York. Fr. Sheehan also works as an adjunct professor of world religion and philosophy at Mercy College in the Bronx, N.Y.
Irish Traditional Entertainment will provided by the Bronx Grammar school sensation – “The Keltic Dreams Irish Dancers” and music will be provided by The Pete McKiernan Band beginning at 12 noon – until 2:30 PM. Bronx Community College’s bucolic National Landmark Campus (formerly NYU’s North Campus) is located at 2155 University Avenue, just off West Fordham Road.
