Honors Conference: Record Number of Students Present Scholarly Work

More than 340 students from Queensborough Community College, Bronx Community College, New York City College of Technology and Kingsborough Community College participated in the 8th Annual Honors Conference, held on May 4 at QCC in the Medical Arts and Science Buildings.

Nearly 240 abstracts were submitted in the scholarly event— an all-time record. Research findings and presentations were shared with people in such areas an environmental chemistry, genome annotation, service learning, gender differences, mathematics, the arts, and much more. Four times the number of students participated since the conference began in 2005.

During the opening remarks, special applause was given to the members of Queensborough’s supportive administration and dedicated faculty mentors who helped make the occasion possible – Interim President Dr. Diane B. Call; Dr. Karen Steele, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs; Michele Cuomo, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Paris Svoronos, Chemistry.
