CUNY SPS Adds BA in Disability Studies & MA in Urban Studies

September 11, 2012 | School of Professional Studies

The CUNY School of Professional Studies (SPS) is delighted to announce the addition of an online Bachelor of Arts degree in Disability Studies and of a Master of Arts degree in Urban Studies to their Fall 2012 degree offerings.

Disability Studies is an emerging academic field which explores disability and society using overlapping perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, science, and the law. The B.A. in Disability Studies offers both a strong foundation in disability theory and history as well as opportunities for in-depth study in one of four concentrations, while the 30-credit Master of Arts in Urban Studies is designed for students pursuing both scholarly and professional interests in the political, economic, and social dynamics of modern urban life. It offers a particular emphasis on urban problems, public policy, community organization, the urban workforce, the administration of public agencies, and the delivery of public services.

The CUNY School of Professional Studies serves New York City’s dynamic marketplace by providing timely, innovative and high-quality programs of study designed to address new or unmet needs.  Drawing on CUNY’s nationally and internationally renowned faculty and practitioners, as well as industry and education partners, SPS offers a wide range of graduate and undergraduate programs, including CUNY’s first fully online degree programs.
