NEW YORK, NY-February 25, 2013 – Baruch College’s Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) students won 3rd place at the 10th Annual Rotman International Trading Competition held Feb. 21-23 at the University of Toronto.

Hosted by the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the competition brings teams of students and faculty from universities worldwide to participate in a three-day conference. RITC utilizes simulated trading cases that closely mimic different aspects of real world markets.

The 2013 MFE team members include Andrew Chang, Juan Pablo Alonso, Kenneth Chan, Kelvin Zhang, Richard Postelnik, and Sean Zhang.

Baruch MFE teams placed 1st and 4th in 2012, and 3rd in 2011. Dan Stefanica, Director of the Master of Financial Engineering Program, said the wins speak volumes about the collective achievements in the MFE Program. “This is a success of our entire community,” he said.

Stefanica said the success of this year’s team is due in part to the preparation and guidance they received from MFE alumni and coaches including Baruch College graduates Eugene Krel, Yike Lu and Alexei Smirnov, who were members of the 2012 team that placed 1st in the RITC. Kelvin Zhang and Sean Zhang, who competed in the RITC, were also members of the MFE team that won second place in the International Association of Financial Engineers (IAFE) Academic Case Competition earlier this month.
