In a guest column for JURIST, alum Victoria Neilson (’94) discusses the need for lawmakers to address LGBT issues as they begin reforming the nation’s immigration policies.  ”Under current U.S. immigration law, it doesn’t matter how long a lesbian or gay couple has been together, whether they are raising children together or even whether they are legally married — there is currently no way for a foreign nation to legalize immigration status based on a primary, same-sex relationship,” writes Neilson. “Until LGBT families are able to clearly cross over the threshold and know that their relationships will be honored by the immigration service, we must continue to fight on every front for full immigration equality.”
