Alum Christina Piaia (’07) was quoted in The New York Times about the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy deciding to end a contest to name a lawn at Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Piaia is the executive director of the Chris Hondros Fund, a nonprofit that supports photojournalism and honors Chris Hondros who was a war photographer tragically killed in Libya. Hondros was Piaia’s fiancée.
A campaign to name the park after Hondros received over 200 supporters, but the Conservancy decided to cancel the contest, stating that it was looking for names inspired by the park itself. “We were disappointed that the rules hadn’t been clarified before,” said Piaia.
