CCAPP Director Millicent Roth to receive Faculty Service Award; Athletic Director Jackee Meadow to
get Administrative Staff Service Award
The 161st annual meeting of Alumni Association of The City College of New York will take place 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6 in The Great Hall, Shepard Hall, 160 Convent Ave., on the CCNY campus. The program includes service award presentations to CCNY faculty, administrators and alumni, a panel discussion celebrating the 75th anniversary of CCNY’s Department of Psychology and a presentation on highlights of the 2012 – 2013 academic year by CCNY President Lisa S. Coico.
Dr. Millicent Roth, director of the Division of Science’s City College Academy for Professional Preparation (CCAPP) program, will receive the Faculty Service Award. A professor of psychology, Dr. Roth established CCAPP, which academic provides support services, including tutoring and advising, to approximately 450 science majors annually, in 1987.
The Association’s Administrative Staff Service Award will go to Jackee Meadow, CCNY’s director of athletics. As athletic director for the past seven years, Ms. Meadow has stewarded the improvement of CCNY’s athletic facilities, including a new hardwood floor for Nat Holman Gymnasium, and has focused on development of “scholar-athletes.” She also doubles as women’s basketball coach.
In addition to the awards for Professor Roth and Ms. Meadow, Alumni Service Awards for
outstanding service to the College and the Association will be presented to:
- Bernard Adler, ’62EE, Engineering School Alumni.
- Randy Brozen, ’01MFA, Art Alumni.
- Stanley H. Cohen, ’61ME, Connecticut Chapter.
- Carolyn S. Fleischer, ’68E, Education Alumni.
- David Wittenberg, ’64, Washington, DC Chapter.
Faculty and alumni comprise the panelists for the discussion celebrating the 75th anniversary of CCNY’s psychology department. Panelists are: Dr. Robert Melara, professor and chair of psychology; Dr. Brett Silverstein, professor of psychology and former dean of social sciences; Dr. Roth; Eva Garcia, ’12, C. Ellen Golding, ’62, ’65MSE;Dr. Herbert Greenberg, ’50, and Olga Mikhlina, ’07. Donald K. Jordan, executive vice president of the Alumni Association, will moderate.
