ACLU, NYCLU and CLEAR Project Challenge NYPD Muslim Surveillance

The American Civil Liberties Union, the New York Civil Liberties Union, and the Creating Law Enforcement Accountability & Responsibility (CLEAR) project of Main Street Legal Services, Inc. at CUNY School of Law, are bringing a lawsuit against the New York City Police Department on behalf of Muslim New Yorkers. The suit claims that the department’s surveillance policies hinder the free exercise of religion and violate equal protection under the law.
