Baruch Ranks #48 Overall Among Best U.S. Colleges
NEW YORK, NY- October 17, 2013 – Baruch College ranked #13 for Affordability and #48 overall in The Daily Beast’s Down + Dirty Guide to the Best Colleges 2013. Baruch College also ranked #79 in Academics, #763 in Activities and #821 for Athletics.
Baruch College was recently recognized in other rankings for access, affordability and quality.
- Baruch College ranked #3 among the list of 349 U.S. colleges in Washington Monthly’s (WM)“Best Bang for the Buck.” Washington Monthly launched the new ranking this year based on the economic value students receive per dollar. Baruch College was ranked #3 with 51% of students receiving Pell Grants; a 63% graduation rate; a 3% default rate on student loans and a Net Price of $3,429. The net price is the average tuition that first-time, full-time students from families with an annual income of $75,000 or less actually pay after subtracting the need-based financial aid they receive.
- According to PayScale’s list of “Annual ROI,” Baruch College delivers the highest annual ROI for in-state students (10.6%) and out-of-state students (9.8%) of all public colleges and universities. In PayScale’s annual “College Education ROI Rankings” report, Baruch College ranks in the top 10%, at #108 out of the 1,060 public and private U.S. colleges and universities evaluated in the report.
- Baruch College is ranked #21 among the “Top 100 Obama Scorecard Colleges,” a list created by Affordable Colleges (AC) Online. With a total score of 78.72 and a low student loan default rate of 3.2%, Baruch College ranks in the Top 25.
The Daily Beast analyzed nearly 2,000 four-year, degree-granting colleges and universities in the United States, by reviewing publicly available data and data collected and published by College Prowler, an online guide created by students that ranks thousands of colleges on everything from the intelligence of professors to attractiveness of students. Other sources used for the ranking included Payscale.com; the National Center for Education Statistics, the U.S. Department of Education, and U.S. News & World Report.
In their methodology, the following criteria were used to calculate the ranking: Future earnings (20%), Quality of education (20%), Affordability (20%), On-time graduation (10%), Campus quality (10%), Activities and clubs (5%), Nightlife (5%), Diversity (5%), and Sports (5%).
