Dr. Brenda Greene Interviewed for Akashic Books

November 5, 2013 | Medgar Evers College

The 2014 National Black Writers Conference draws ever closer.  Dr. Brenda Greene, Executive Director of the Medgar Evers College (MEC) Center for Black Literature, was recently interviewed about the Center and the Conference — one of the most highly-anticipated events in Black literary circles.  Johnny Temple, of Akashic Books, spoke with Dr. Greene about her vision for the future of the Center for Black Literature, now in its 10th year of existence, and how she thinks things have evolved in Black literature since the Center first opened.

Dr. Greene has served as a professor in the higher education community for more than 30 years, much of that at MEC and New York University (NYU).  She has edited five books, written many articles and currently hosts the Writers on Writing program on WNYE 91.5 FM from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Sundays.
