Students and teachers will soon have access to “Supreme Decisions,” a free historical calendar with companion website being launched today that examines the critical judicial rulings through which the Supreme Court has shaped the United States and the way we live our lives. Under the auspices of the CUNY/New York Times Knowledge Network, “Supreme Decisions” is the 10th calendar from a unique partnership between the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives at LaGuardia Community College and The New York Times Photo Archives. The project is co-sponsored by JP Morgan Chase and received invaluable support from Mayor Bloomberg and the New York City Council.
Distinguished guest speakers will include LaGuardia Community College President Gail Mellow; The New York Times Education Manager Stephanie Doba; Distinguished Professor from the CUNY School of Law Ruthann Robson and Steven Levine, Associate Project Director and Coordinator of Educational Programs at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
Previous calendars have explored voting rights and citizenship, women’s leadership, immigration, freedom, city life, public higher education, health, the economy, and science, technology, engineering and math.
