March 27, 2014 | Medgar Evers College
The Medgar Evers College (MEC) community extends congratulations to Biology professor Dr. Syed Shiraz Mujtaba and Medgar Evers student and Biology major, Marc Philizaire for the upcoming publication of their research on Prostate Cancer in Molecular Endocrinology – a leading global journal that publishes original research articles, rapid communications and reviews.
The research article, “Coactivator MYST1 Regulates NF-<kappa>B and AR Functions during Proliferation of Prostate Cancer Cells”, showcases Dr. Mujtaba’s and Marc’s identification of a novel protein (“MYST1”) that aggravates prostate cancer cell growth. This is an important discovery as prostate cancer is a disease that affects a number of men in this region and throughout the nation. Through their work, Dr. Mujtaba and Marc Philizaire will help to make significant strides in finding a cure for Prostate Cancer. Again, please join us in celebrating this brilliant achievement and congratulating them on this great honor.
