–Exhibit of Award-Winning Photos Also Sponsored by Queens College’s “Year of Brazil”–
FLUSHING, NY, March 31, 2014 — Photographs of Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia by architectural and fine art photographer Andrew Prokos will be on exhibit at Banco do Brasil, 11 West 42nd Street in Manhattan, from April 3-25.
Entitled “Brazil: Night & Day – Photographs by Andrew Prokos,” the exhibition will include photographs from Prokos’s award-winning series “Niemeyer’s Brasilia,” which captures the surreal modernist architecture of Oscar Niemeyer in the Brazilian capital. The exhibition will also include a selection of panoramic cityscapes of Rio de Janeiro at night, landscapes from its famous botanical gardens, and Rio street scenes.
“I am truly honored to be exhibiting my work at Banco do Brasil New York, and doubly so because the space is normally reserved for Brazilian artists only,” says Prokos. “I want to show a side of Brazil that is not often seen outside of the country, and I am excited to be able to do that with the support of Queens College’s Year of Brazil program and Banco do Brasil.”
“Queens College is thrilled to play a role in bringing these stunning photographs to a wider public,” says Eva Fernandez, Assistant Vice Provost of Queens College of the City University of New York. “The photos also offer a unique opportunity to meet an important objective of our Year of Brazil: to foster a dialogue between students and faculty from Brazil and the United States.”
