Medgar Evers College (MEC) is honored to announce the appointment of Dr. George Irish, Acting Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Education. Dr. Irish has been a valued member of the MEC community for 25 years, having taught several Caribbean and Latin American Studies courses at the College’s Caribbean Research Center. Along with teaching at MEC, Dr. Irish was recently awarded the Order of Excellence from the Government of Montserrat in the Caribbean. This honor is awarded to only seven living nationals who provide transformative and excellent scholarship and service. Dr. Irish has been recognized for his outstanding work in education and cultural awareness as well as his leadership in education on labor relations and political development.
Dr. Irish is the Co-Founder and Chancellor of the Peoples of the Americas Consortium of Research Centers and Universities of Sustainable Development. He has been awarded with the MEC Excellence in Teaching Award as well.
