On April 25, at 8pm, the Cecilia Chorus (Artistic Director Mark Shapiro) will premiere Tom Cipullo’s new Credo for a Secular City at Carnegie Hall.
Written for 150-voice chorus and orchestra, the piece is a journey through faith and doubt in the modern world, and draws upon texts from writers as diverse as Shakespeare, Milton, Matthew Arnold, Edward Hirsch, Lisel Mueller, and Robert Hayden.
Also on the program will be Brahms Nänie, Vaughn Williams Toward the Unknown Region, and Bruckner’s Te Deum. The excellent soloists featured on the various pieces are soprano Kristina Bachrach, mezzo Virginie Verrez, tenor Noah Baetge, and bass-baritone Michael Anthony McGee. The Cecilia Chorus is a magnificent group, and sure to give an exceptional performances of all the works on the program.
