Statement from CUNY Interim Chancellor William P. Kelly on Mayor de Blasio’s Executive Budget

May 8, 2014 | The University

“We commend  Mayor de Blasio’s  support, registered in the executive budget, of significant initiatives at the City University of New York.  We salute with particular enthusiasm the Mayor’s commitment to expanding access to careers in science, technology, engineering and math.  We are encouraged as well by his endorsement of CUNY ASAP, a program which accelerates degree completion for community college students, and by his provision of tuition assistance for students enrolled in summer courses.  All New Yorkers will benefit from the priority the Mayor and the City Council have placed on higher education. CUNY is gratified to stand with the Mayor and the Council in the pursuit of that critical goal. We pledge our efforts to sustain and to extend the university’s commitment to excellence and to access.”
